Portugal to host 2021 Snipe Junior World Championship. The SCIRA Board of Directors has approved Portugal and the Clube de Vela Atlantico (Leça da Palmeira – Porto) to host the next Jr Worlds. Dates July 27-31, 2022
Clube de Vela Atlântico, with the Authorization of the Federação Portuguesa de Vela, in co-operation with the Snipe Class International Racing Association (SCIRA).
The regatta will be governed by:
1.1 The rules as defined in the Racing Rules of (RRS)
1.2 National prescriptions that apply will be published in English at the Official Notice Board
1.3 The decision of the jury will be final in accordance with RRS 70.5.

1.6 RRS 35 will be changed to provide that boats not finishing within 30 minutes after the first boat to finish will be scored “Did Not Finish” without a hearing
1.7 RRS 62.2 and 66.2 (a) will be changed to shorten the time for requesting redress and the requesting that a hearing be re-opened, no later than 30 minutes after the decision was posted, on the last day of racing.
1.8 RRS 30.4 will not be used.
1.9 RRS 60.1(a) will be changed to restrict protest from boats for specific items on the NoR and SI.
1.10 RSS 64.3 will be changed to compel the Jury/RC to abandon a race as required by SCIRA RoC 18.
1.11 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence
2.1 Advertising is permitted in accordance with World Sailing Regulation 20
2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority
3.1 This regatta is subject to the following Vieri Lasinio Di Castelvero Trophy Deed of Gift restrictions:
3.2 No skipper or crew shall be eligible to enter any Class championship race unless:
- they possess and present a current Class Membership Card, or
- SCIRA-issued equivalent, or
- shows as current member in the SCIRA Official Online Database
3.3 Bow numbers are assigned at registration and it shall be each competitor’s sole responsibility to properly affix them in conformance with the instructions and to properly maintain them
3.4 Eligible competitors shall enter by completing an entry form on official website for registrations (www.snipeworlds.org). Entries must be received no later than 1st July 2022. No late Entries shall be accepted.
Entry fee is 350,00€ and the payment must be made at time of registration on the regatta website. The entry fee includes social events and ceremonies.
No entry fee will be refunded after 1st of July 2022 and 50% of entry fee will be refunded in case of canceled entries to the registration if it is done before this date.

5.1 Registration confirmation: 10:00h to 20:00h 25th to 26th July 2022
5.2 Measurement: 10:00h to 20:00h 25th to 26th July 2022
5.3 Schedule of Races: 27th to 31 July 2022. Nine (9) races are scheduled (Maximum 3 races per day).
Warning signal every day will be 13:00h. Last possible warning signal on last day will be 17:30h. Three races constitute the regatta.
If nine races are completed, the two worst races shall be dropped, including a disqualification. If six or seven races are completed, the worst race shall be dropped, including a disqualification. If five or fewer races are completed, all shall be counted.
6.1 Measurement will take place at the Clube de Vela Atlântico close to the boat parking area
6.2 All boats shall produce a valid measurement certificate and are subject to measurement at any time at the reasonable discretion of the Class or Race Committee
6.3 All boats are required to have a current Class decal properly displayed
The Sailing Instructions will be available at the race office from 26th July 2022, and published in the ONB and in the website of the championship.
Races will be sailed in frente Atlântica area.
The courses to be sailed are the Class approved courses for the official regattas as published on the current SCIRA web site.
The low Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A, will apply.
RRS 64.2 is modified so that any breakdown points or RDG Points equal the average earned to the nearest tenth of a point (round .05 and greater upward) of the competitor’s points in the series except the drop race (if any) and the race in question.
Support boats shall register, within the limits specified in 5.1 above, to the Organizing Committee that will assign an identification to be shown visible on the boat throughout the event. The entry fee for coaches is 150,00€ to be paid in the Race Office at the moment of registration or through the website www.snipeworlds.org.
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 330.556,66€ per incident or the equivalent.
NOTE: organizers should arrange for insurance to be purchased
13.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats
13.2 This restriction also applies to mobile telephones
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the regatta.
By participating in this event, competitors automatically grant to the SCIRA, organizing authority and the event sponsors the right, in perpetuity, to make, use, and show, at their discretion, any photography, audio and video recording, and other reproductions of them made at the venue or on the water from the time of their arrival at the venue, until their final departure, without compensation.
Vieri De Lasinio Di Castelvero Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the winning skipper in accordance with the DoG conditions.

The country holding the regatta is obliged to offer lodging and food to the first crew of each country, National Secretaries and SCIRA authorities, and if possible, to the second crew. Lodging to be in private homes, if possible.
